Mono Potassium Phosphate
We are leading manufacturers, suppliers and distributors of monopotassium phosphate (MKP) to industry. Also known as potassium dihydrogen phosphate, KDP or monobasic potassium phosphate, this compound is predominantly used in the manufacture of fertilisers. It is also used as a buffering agent for a number of other applications.
Our monopotassium phosphate is available as both a solid and liquid in a range of sizes to suit your needs, from 25L drums through to 1000L containers and bulk transfer, with fast, UK-wide delivery.
Applications.
Agrochemical
- Fertilisers: A source of potassium and phosphorus and a key component in numerous urea and ammonium phosphate-based fertilisers. MKP helps to prevent escape of ammonia by keeping pH at a lower level.
Water Treatment
- Corrosion inhibitor: A pH buffer in boiler systems, cooling towers, and other industrial water systems to reduce corrosion and scale build up.
Food Additives
- pH buffer: In food grade format only, used as a food additive for pH and acidity regulation.
Healthcare Chemicals
- Pharmaceutical production: Can be used as a pH regulation in the certain medicines.
Overview.
As a solution, monopotassium phosphate (KH2PO4) is a clear, colourless liquid with no distinguishing odour. As a solid, it is a white hygroscopic powder with no distinguishing odour.
MKP is used in the manufacture of a range of urea and ammonium phosphate-based fertilisers for agriculture. This is largely due to its ability to regulate ammonia levels via a lower pH balance. It is a source of potassium and phosphorus, essential for plant root development, energy transfer, fruit production, water regulation and disease resistance.
MKP can also be a pH buffer and corrosion inhibitor and in water treatment processes.
In food grade formats, the chemical is used as an additive for emulsifying, pH regulation and acidity regulation in a range of products, including energy drinks, soft drinks, processed meats and dairy products.
Its pH adjustment properties can also make it a suitable buffering agent for pharmaceutical production.
