Akasil® Antifoam FD 20 is medium strength silicone antifoam emulsion. This highly effective, water soluble product is specially formulated for use in processing waters where food considerations apply.Part of the market-leading Akasil® range of antifoam solutions, we supply and distribute this product in bulk 25L drums to meet any requirement.

Sitting in between Akasil® FD 10 and FD 30, FD 20 is suited to environments where a medium level of antifoam activity may be desired. This can include:

Akasil® Antifoam FD 20: high-performance, food-approved silicone antifoam agent for food processing
A white liquid with 20% silicone content, this product is a non-ionic emulsion specially formulated for foam-susceptible environments where special considerations apply, such as food processing (but not directly for use in food production).
Stable over a range of temperatures and requiring only mild agitation, FD 20 disperses easily in both hot and cold aqueous systems for optimum efficiency and safety. In food production, this product is a process aid, not an ingredient.
This product holds European H1 and Kosher certification, meeting the highest level of regulatory approval for use as foodstuff process-aids.
Recommendations for use
We recommend pre-diluting for the best end results, with a ratio of 1 : 4 ratio of Akasil® Antifoam FD 20 : cool soft or deionised water. For optimal results, the antifoam mixture should be used within 12 hours of having been diluted. The product should be added to lines before use. As a rule, between 0.01 and 0.5g/L of antifoam is sufficient.

The product of over 35 years of research and development into siloxane-based technology for foam control, the Akasil® Antifoam FD range is formulated for applications where food processing considerations apply. It comprises siloxane emulsions at 10% activity (FD 10), 20% activity (FD 20 — this product) and 30% activity (FD 30).
Akasil® also offers cost-effective technical grade antifoams — TG 10, TG 20 and TG 30. This format is a lower-spec emulsion suited to process waters where food considerations do not apply, such as water treatment and detergency.
